Which FNB Accounts Qualify for PayPal?

PayPal is a cheap, convenient and safe method to send money to anyone, nationwide. It offers an easy way to transact online.

The service has more than 100 million active users in over 190 countries.

Since the service has been introduced, it has mainly been made available to South African consumers through First National Bank (FNB) through specified FNB Accounts.

FNB Withdraw Service with PayPal allows South Africans to withdraw funds from a PayPal account to any South African bank account.

You can use your PayPal account to make or receive payments for goods and services online.

Which FNB Accounts qualify for PayPal?

Currently, only FNB cheque account holders may qualify for PayPal.

How to link your FNB Account with PayPal

Go to your PayPal Account and add your bank card.  To add your bank card, go to PayPal and fill in the numbers on your card.

PayPal will deduct about R20 from your FNB Cheque Account in order to confirm that the bank card and bank account really are yours.

About 3 to 6 days later you will get a statement that will reflect the R20 transaction with a code. Use that code in your PayPal Account and your card will be confirmed.

Make sure that you double check with the consultant that when you receive your FNB cheque account card that it has the VISA logo on it.

If you have a transactional bank account with another bank, you may need to create an FNB online banking profile before you can send funds to your bank account.

What are some of the benefits of getting a PayPal account?

  • Using PayPal allows you to shop safely and securely online
  • You can earn credit card points on purchases
  • Operating a PayPal account is free
